Free Community Sing

Baltimore Choral Arts is excited to present this season's Free Community Sing concert on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 7pm at Northside Baptist Church. Music Director Anthony Blake Clark and Baltimore Choral Arts, as well as Music Director Marco Merrick and the Community Concert Choir of Baltimore will be joined by guest conductor Michele Fowlin who will lead concert. This annual event encourages all attendees to participate in the singing of spirituals and gospel music, unifying the community in the universal language of music. No prior experience is required, and everyone is welcomed to join the music-making experience. Baltimore Choral Arts is proud to host Free Community Sing as a part of Free Fall Baltimore, a celebration that offers free cultural events throughout Baltimore in order to highlight the rich diversity of the city while emphasizing cultural equity.

Michele Fowlin serves as director of the Washington Performing Arts' Children of the Gospel Choir. She studied voice with renowned opera singers Regina McConnell, Carmen Balthrop, Sylvia Olden Lee and Charlotte Holloman earning her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Vocal Performance/Pedagogy. Under the tutelage of Dr. James Weldon Norris, she became Assistant to the conductor for the Howard University Choirs. Ms. Fowlin holds clinics for vocal health and wellness, voice and piano master classes, and guest directorships for gospel music and choral workshops. She has also conducted various youth choirs in the DC metropolitan area. Ms. Fowlin is the Director of Choral Programs, Eleanor Roosevelt High School, Maryland.

Tickets are not required for the event, and seating will be first-come, first-served.
