Dreamer

Our first commercial recording release in over a decade, this breathtaking album was recorded live in concert in May 2022. Released by Acis Productions, “Dreamer" pairs Maestro Clark’s completion of the Mozart Requiem (K. 626) with “Portraits: Douglass and Tubman”, a new work by composer Jasmine Barnes (b. 1991) with a collection of texts that inspire the present with the unending quest for social justice. The concert was staged in collaboration with the American Spiritual Ensemble, and founder and director Dr. Everett McCorvey.

REVIEWS:

"The choir's singing […] doesn't lack for impact, however, as demonstrated by its powerful delivery in “Do Right”; it doesn't hurt either that the music's driven by ostinato rhythms, surging strings, and syncopated snare and tympani drumming. The drama of “Moral Growth” is intensified when Barnes accompanies the choir and orchestra with a rattle reminiscent of the kind used to warn escaped enslaved people that danger was near." Textura

"The choir sing accurately and very enthusiastically. They go hell-for-leather at the Dies Irae and Confutatis, which is taken at a daringly fast speed, but they’re incisive in the big fugues and there’s a pleasing sense of weight to their singing." Music Web International
