Baltimore Choral Arts Announces its 60th Anniversary Season: Timeless Voices

Baltimore Choral Arts Society, originally founded in 1966 by Theo Morrison, celebrates 60 years of choral innovation in its 2025-26 season: Timeless Voices. Over the past 60 years, Baltimore Choral Arts Society has established a presence as one of the pillars of classical music in Baltimore. Music Director Anthony Blake Clark has crafted an anniversary season to celebrate the chorus through timeless and iconic masterworks.

“As we celebrate our 60th Anniversary Season, I’m thrilled to present a lineup that showcases the depth, beauty, and power of choral music,” says Anthony Blake Clark, Music Director of Choral Arts. “From the spiritual serenity of Rachmaninoff’s Vespers to the joyous tradition of our annual Christmas concert, and culminating in the grandeur of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, this season reflects our commitment to both our Baltimore community and the broader choral world. It’s an honor to lead this ensemble through such an inspiring year, including our exciting collaboration with another artistic organization close to my heart, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, next spring.”

The 60th Anniversary Season will include three subscription concerts, beginning with the introspective and mesmerizing Rachmaninoff Vespers at 7:30 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Baltimore Basilica. This moving performance marks the start of a milestone year for Choral Arts, highlighting the ensemble’s continued commitment to artistic excellence and powerful choral expression.

The season continues with the beloved annual Christmas with Choral Arts concert at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, also at the Baltimore Basilica. A Baltimore tradition for over 40 years, this festive event features traditional carols, seasonal favorites, and spirited singalongs that bring joy to audiences of all ages and usher in the holiday season with warmth and cheer.

The final subscription concert of the season will be a choral and organ arrangement of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, performed at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Grace United Methodist Church. This monumental work will serve as a stirring local send-off before the chorus travels to Dallas, Texas, in May 2026 to perform the “Symphony of a Thousand” with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. The chorus will be prepared by Choral Arts’ own Anthony Blake Clark, with the performance conducted by world-renowned maestro Fabio Luisi.

Continuing its longstanding tradition of education and community outreach, this season Choral Arts will engage in exciting collaborations with the Peabody Children's Chorus and yet another annual Baltimore's Big Sing event in the Spring of 2026. A season full of favorites for singers and audience-members alike, this 60th anniversary year is something to celebrate. Tickets for the 2025-26 season will be available starting on July 1, 2025.
